1. Parrot Cage –  BOTTOM

There is a plastic base with a wire grate in most parrot cages. The grate keeps the parrot from stepping into their droppings. Anyway some of the droppings stick to it. So it can be taken out right away. The grate can be used as a separator when two incompatible parrots must be in one parrot cage for a short time for example during transportation. Of course it can not be used for a long period.

By the time the material of the plastic base gets brittle because it becomes gradually worn by the sprinkled. Ask the shop where you have bought the parrot cage if they supply a replacement base after it breaks or when it is completely unusable. If the tray can be pulled out, it is more practical. It is better if you can clean the floor without setting the wire top aside. But also it is difficult to put only the top over the parrots if they do not want to return in the parrot cage.
2.  Parrot Cage – LOCATION

Normally the stand which goes with the parrot cage is usually 50-60 cm. This is very low for observing the parrots, they have to be at eye level because it disturbs the birds if someone looks from above into the cage. If the parrot cage is hung on a wall, the bird is covered from one side. Avoid direct sunlight, close radiators and drafts. But have in mind that the room should receive sunlight once a day.Also because parrots should take part in family life, reserve several places for the parrot cage in the house. You will need two hooks fastened to the wall in the appropriate rooms, but not the kitchen and the bedroom. In this way the bird can be brought along and you will not worry that you parrot will damage something with its beak. If you have bought the parrot recently, a certain reticence in this respect is normally .But do not forget about the hygiene even when you become more intimate with the bird.
3. Parrot Cage Stand and Climbing Tree

To chain the parrot by one foot to the parrot stand all day long is against the proper treatment of the bird. The stand is to be used in addition to the parrot cage. The tray catches parrot droppings and other debris produced by it. Also the parrot cages should provide a climbing tree because a single perch offers only few climbing. The whole is set into an outdoor umbrella stand or a Christmas-tree stand. Trim branches to the desired size and then nail or screw them together. 4.  Bird Rooms

There should be sunlight and warmth in the room. Use”truelite” tubes during winter because the photoperiod should be at least twelve hours. “Truelite” tubes produce artificial but similar to natural daylight. Turn them on at 4:00 AM using a timer so that the twelve-hour “day” will end at the same time as sunset. At nights also the room should not be completely dark. Leave an 8-watt bulb switched on if there is no light from outside.

Set a grating into the window opening to get direct contact with the outside air into the parrot cage. On the other hand the grating will not allow parrots to get away. Choose the interior furnishings which will not injure the parrots. Enclose the heat source with a grating if there is a possibility that the parrots could burn their feet because of the high temperature. The walls should be with Resopal or roofer’s tin, with a washable paint like those in the bathrooms, with a coating of whitewash, without paper. Choose the material of the floor which is easy to clean. Caulk it and then cover it with sand.

Parrot breeding is one of a million and interesting hobby that many people desire. Like me, I am a hobbyist whom I engaged in the field of birds that I really love and enjoy. I am very glad that in many years of trial and failure in the hobby that I choose which is breeding different kinds of bird.  There are many things that I experienced and learned in breeding birds. There are two things that I encountered bad and good things. At first, entertaining is my target but in the days, weeks, months and years pass, there are many things that I discovered and make up in my mind that I really enjoy this kind of hobby. After that, it became business. Should I call it hobby or profession? Maybe I should call it profession because in my years of breeding birds I spent most of my time taking care of them, many nights I didn’t go to sleep to make sure of their safety, doing the night work looking for them time to time. Regular checking of the babies most especially when there are many chicks to feed. Way back in the beginning, I got a pair of parakeets that my mom gave to. I have no idea how to take care of those birds. Suddenly they died in some reason. I don’t know how they died and the cause of their death because I am not aware in caring them. I really love birds.

Parrots usually need toys most especially young parrots. In breeding parrots or keeping this intelligent bird you must know how to deal with them or how to bond with them. They need time to play just like our kids and they need to play not just for fun but they play for exercise. Birds also need exercise just like ours. To make them fit not to make them fat. Fat birds are easy to die and they are not reproductive in other way of saying they are not fit well. Like human being fat people prone to heart attack and high blood diseases. Some times fat people cannot produce babies same as in birds. That is why they need to play and exercise. They need toys and other things to play too.

There are many different types of bird toys that are easy to find in your local pet stores. If you are buying bird toys look for the toys that will fit to your bird. First step you have to do or know the kind of bird that you are keeping. This is very important in buying bird toys. You cannot give small toy to the big species of birds it is very hazardous to them is just because it is possible them to choke the small parts of the small toys. Same thing with the small birds they cannot enjoy the big toys because it is big. Maybe they cannot afford to gnaw it or they cannot even to move it because is it very big and heavy.

Secondly, choosing the right materials of bird toys is also important. Sharp pointed steel toys can harm your bird; small parts can also harm them if they swallow it, rusty materials can also cause of ill ness and sudden death, painted toys can also harm your birds and cause by death.

Parrot toys are easy to find in your local pet store or you can make by your own choice. Making Toys for them are full of enjoyment and in the same time exiting. Like me, I make my own toys for my birds. Yes it is possible, for small birds like parakeets or budgies you can offer them parakeet toys like shinny and bright things, bells, small wooden blocks, small wooden ladders, mirrors, or you can think any things that can catch their attention. In parrots you can offer a multiple layer wooden ladder, wooden blocks, they also love balls and bells. You can offer them wooden perch or twigs to play with and in the same time exercising their beaks. You can think more but be careful of the materials that you are choosing in making bird toys. Think first of their safety.

Keep it Positive
The key to training your parrot is to keep the interaction positive. Three concepts provide the basis for parrot training:

1. Parrot does something good –> give a reward
2. Parrot does something undesirable –> ignore it
3. Never punish your parrot

Obviously, this is a bit simplistic, but your goal is to shape your bird’s behavior into what you want by a giving a reward for good things and ignoring (no reward, no reaction) for bad things.

The reward can be a favorite food treat, but simple praise or a play session with a treasured toy can be good motivation for some birds. If your bird is doing something undesirable, you must simply ignore the bird (your bird will not respond to punishment).

A negative reaction can turn into a reward if your bird is looking for attention (negative attention is better than no attention), so you must be careful not to unintentionally cause some undesirable behaviors to increase due to your reaction. Ignoring behavior might first cause it to intensify, but eventually the undesirable behavior will most likely stop.

How you approach training can help keep training positive:

* Train only when you are relaxed. Positive training does take patience!
* Pick a time when your bird is attentive and not distracted by eating, preening, or household activity.
* Frequent, but short, training sessions are generally more effective. A few minutes at a time, several times a day, works well.
* Pick a favorite reward (but don’t overdo it if it is food).
* Once your bird catches on to something, don’t give a treat every time (switch to praise part of the time) or your bird may only do the behavior if he/she knows you have a treat handy.
* End each session on a positive note. Wait for a successful attempt or at least a good try at whatever you are training, give a treat, and move on to something else.
* Keep training sessions upbeat and fun for your bird.
